This blog is about starting over. My personal starting over, and my hope that society might be able to start over. I graduated from university thinking that everything would be perfect. It was a modern version of the little girl dreaming of marrying a prince. I didn’t want a prince, or a pony, or a castle, or anything. I wanted an apartment, in a city, a cool job and a partner. I thought the degree entitled me to all that. Turns out I was dead wrong. I wasn’t prepared to be a real grown up, I made some of the most miserable mistakes of my life, and I’m starting this blog on the day that the last broken pieces have been picked up. I’ve got a new course charted, and I’m on my way. With some more realistic expectations, and many questions to answer.
Here you will find class notes from my coursework at the school of life. I’ll be attending cheap and free academic lectures, cultural presentations and the like. I’ll be watching films and documentaries, and reading books and articles to learn about foreign affairs (my field of interest). I’ll be trying to find out why the world works the way it does, and if we might be able to change it. I’ll even be trying to learn to cook and speak new languages. You may get some interesting work stories, you may get commentary on things I saw walking down the street. There will probably be a smattering of poetry mixed in. Wish me luck!
I’m so proud of you. Mucha suerte y pura vida
Thanks and back atcha
